Ponder on This…

By cassie

Social Media started entering into the main stream public.

Suddenly, the internet was full of “gurus” and “experts”

In an effort to differentiate themselves people started claiming “I will not claim to be and expert or guru”

Suddenly, nearly every person in every niche online does “social media consulting”

Suddenly, just taking part means you know it.

What if people focused on a smaller niche? Social Media consulting for tech companies, universities, or the food industry? How will the market differentiate themselves next?

So true – so many “experts.” My sister works for a lobbying firm in DC. She only recently started using Facebook and does not have a Twitter account. He firm, however, is actively holding seminars for their clients in which they them them how to “engage the consumer” through social media. It’s a crock of shit, and I can’t wait to see a bunch of unemployed gurus.
